Peppers Pride, who holds the modern day American record for consecutive wins, has been retired from racing to become a broodmare for breeder/owner Joe Allen. She is booked to Tiznow. The 6-year-old New Mexico-bred mare won all 19 races. Fourteen of those wins came in stakes and all were restricted.

A daughter of Desert God, Peppers Pride is scheduled to arrive at Nathan Fox’s Richland Hills near Midway, Ky., in two or three weeks.

Peppers Pride began to attract national attention when her record began to close in on the former record of 16 shared by Citation, Cigar, Mister Frisky, and Hallowed Dreams. Peppers Pride reached victory No. 16 when she won the Russell and Helen Foutz Distaff Handicap at SunRay Park in April 2008. Her record-breaking 17th win came in an optional claiming race at Zia Park in October. She closed out her career with a triumph in the Dec. 14 New Mexico State Racing Commission Handicap at Sunland Park.

Peppers Pride also eclipsed the modern day international mark of Silent Witness, the Hong Kong horse who won 18 straight..

Trained by Joel Marr, Peppers Pride retired with earnings of $1,066,085 after four seasons of racing. She is the last foal from the Chili Pepper Pie mare Lady Pepper and is a full sister to stakes winner Desert Pride
