Horse of the Year Curlin begins stud career

.

Two-time Horse of the Year Curlin began his stallion career on Friday when he covered Maggy Hawk, dam of 2005 three-year-old champion male and dual class winner Afleet Alex, at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, Kentucky.

Jess Jackson owns both Curlin and Maggy Hawk. Curlin retired following the 2008 season as the leading North American-based money earner as well as a two-time champion. He is standing his first season for $75,000 alongside his sire, two-time leading sire Smart Strike.

“We are pleased to see Curlin move into his new career by breeding such an outstanding mare as Maggy Hawk,” Farish said.
