Bill Dwyre of the Los Angeles Times revisited the record-setting season of Racing Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron in a February 17 story.

As a 19-year-old apprentice rider in 1974, McCarron set the record for most wins in a season with 546. The record stood until Kent Desormeaux won 598 races in 1989.
