TVG will broadcast live, trackside coverage of the $300,000 Tampa Bay Derby (gr. III) from Tampa Bay Downs March 14. Coverage of the track’s marquee race begins at 4 p.m. ET, with post time at 5:26 p.m. ET.
TVG’s Todd Schrupp and Simon Bray will be onsite to provide live reports of the action. The Tampa Bay Derby has emerged as one of the premiere Kentucky Derby (gr. I) prep races and is the highlight of Festival Day, the track’s richest day of racing.
Street Sense won the 2007 Tampa Bay Derby on his way to a win in that year’s Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands. Bluegrass Cat finished second in the 2006 Tampa Bay Derby and went on to second-place finishes in both the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes (gr. I).
In addition to the Tampa Bay Derby, Festival Day will feature the $175,000 Hillsborough Stakes (gr. III), the $200,000 Florida Oaks (gr. III) and the $75,000 Turf Da.
