Gryder to ride in Hong Kong for rest of meet

.

Aaron Gryder, the pilot in Well Armed’s 14-length victory in the Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1), will ride in Hong Kong for the final four cards of the current season.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club is bringing in Gryder and Australian rider William Pike to boost a jockey colony depleted by injuries and suspensions, the South China Morning Post reported.

Gryder will be the first American-based jockey to ride more than just a few races in Hong Kong since Gary Stevens in 1998.

The club’s current season will conclude with cards on June 21, 24, 28, and July 1.

Gryder had ten wins from 119 mounts in the Hollywood Park spring/summer meet.
