2007 Breeders' Cup Mile winner Kip Deville
Kip Deville, the 2007 NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT) winner and the 2008 runner-up, has been retired from racing because of a series of ailments, according to Michael Iavarone, president of co-owner IEAH Stables.
“He has had multiple colic surgeries the last month and now has laminitis,” Iavarone said. “All we’re worried about is making sure he gets the best treatment and comes through all this.”

Kip Deville, who hasn’t raced since the beginning of August, is being cared for at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital near Lexington.
A 6-year-old son of Kipling , Kip Deville is the leading Oklahoma-bred earner of all time. He captured a dozen of 30 races and earned $3,325,489.
In addition to the 2007 Mile, Kip Deville also scored grade I turf wins in the 2007 Frank E. Kilroe Mile Handicap at Santa Anita, the 2008 Maker’s Mark Mile at Keeneland, and this year’s Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap. He won a total of 10 stakes and placed in four others,
